Can AI Music Create an Emotional Response From The Listener?

So you may be wondering why I haven’t updated my website lately. I’ve been using most of my free time to create AI Generated Music using an app called Suno AI. I have been using Suno for about 6 months now and here are my thoughts and some of my favorite creations so far.

I’m sharing my music online on most music platforms. Feel free to follow Geeky Sweetie on:

Apple Music:

Spotify:

YouTube Music:

IHeartRadio

Amazon Music

Or Wherever you get your music.

So when I first started, I was mostly just entering a prompt and selecting a style and letting Suno do as it pleased. I probably made about 500 songs that way. Some were frivilous or some ended abruptly or had low sound quality. Then I started writing my own lyrics and things changed. read more

A Ghost Story Review: A Bizarre Journey to an Unexpectedly Profound Ending

A Ghost Story Official Trailer

Introduction:

When I first heard about A Ghost Story (2017), the hype was real. The critics were raving, the trailer hinted at deep existential themes, and the movie seemed to have collected awards like a ghost in a haunted house. But does it live up to the buzz? I dove in, prepared for an emotional journey through life, death, and beyond. What I got was one of the most perplexing viewing experiences of my life—a mix of profound beauty and utter frustration. Buckle up; this is not your typical ghost story.

The Good, The Bad, and The Confusing

Let’s not sugarcoat it: A Ghost Story is not an easy watch. The first hour and a half felt like an eternity. Imagine a film where a grieving widow spends ten minutes silently eating a pie. Yes, ten minutes. In silence. Watching this, I felt like I had stumbled into a modern art exhibit where the artist was daring me to leave out of sheer boredom. Long, lingering shots, almost no dialogue, and a ghost under a bedsheet—it felt like the movie was playing a trick on me. Was this the masterpiece that critics had lauded, or was I missing something? read more

12 Days of Christmas: The Hidden Catholic Meaning of Classic Christmas Song

“The Twelve Days of Christmas” is a traditional Christmas carol with a hidden Christian meaning, believed to be a coded catechism used by English Catholics during the time when Catholicism was outlawed in England (1558-1829). Each gift in the song represents a different aspect of the Christian faith:

  1. A Partridge in a Pear Tree – Jesus Christ. The partridge, a bird willing to sacrifice its life to protect its young, symbolizes Christ sacrificing Himself for humanity.
  2. Two Turtle Doves – The Old and New Testaments of the Bible, offering the complete story of Christian theology.
  3. Three French Hens – The theological virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity (1 Corinthians 13:13).
  4. Four Calling Birds – The Four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) which spread the story of Christ.
  5. Five Gold Rings – The first five books of the Old Testament, known as the Torah or the Pentateuch.
  6. Six Geese A-Laying – The six days of creation (Genesis 1) that describe the creation of the world.
  7. Seven Swans A-Swimming – The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit (wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord).
  8. Eight Maids A-Milking – The eight Beatitudes, teachings of Jesus that start with “Blessed are…” in the Sermon on the Mount.
  9. Nine Ladies Dancing – The nine Fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
  10. Ten Lords A-Leaping – The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17).
  11. Eleven Pipers Piping – The eleven faithful apostles (excluding Judas).
  12. Twelve Drummers Drumming – The twelve points of doctrine in the Apostle’s Creed.

This interpretation of the carol is not universally accepted and is considered by some as a fanciful folk legend. However, it serves as a beautiful example of how religious truths can be woven into popular culture. read more

Review of Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical (Nintendo Switch Version)

When I first heard about *Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical*, my excitement was palpable. Being an ardent admirer of David Gaider’s work with Dragon Age, and given my penchant for musicals, the concept of a roleplaying game that integrates musical elements sounded like a dream come true.

The narrative of *Stray Gods* drew me in immediately. Playing as Grace, tasked with proving her innocence against the accusation of murdering the last muse, while navigating the world of Greek gods, is nothing short of exhilarating. The stakes are high, the drama is palpable, and the narrative choices make for a deeply immersive experience. Each choice influencing the story’s progression, especially in the musical lyrics, adds a whole new layer of depth, resonating with the musical lover in me. read more

Music Recommendations For January 2023

It’s time to share what I’ve been listening to lately. I have very eclectic musical tastes and listen to everything from the past 6 decades ranging from pop to kpop to rap and hiphop to rock and everything in between. No holiday music here. Holidays are over for better or worse. Let’s kick 2023 off with some great music! Tell me, what have you been listening to?

Stray Kids – Charmer

Might be my favorite song right now – no lies.

Stray Kids Charmer English Translation Lyrics:

[Verse 1: Han, Bang Chan, Seungmin]
There’s nothing lacking
I’m saucin’, livin’ in big Seoul City, without showing any modesty
I hang up the imitators on the laundry rack
If we do it, they all fall down like bowling pins
Shoulders held high like Mt. Everest
No chance of falling down, it is unstoppable every day
When I make it big, watch your heads
I’ll change the trend every day like refresh (Cling, cling) read more

Music – What To Listen To Week Of 7/31/22

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these posts hasn’t it? I’m actually going to a lot of concerts this summer. I just went to one a few weeks ago, which is kinda embarrassing – I didn’t know the band really – I knew one of their songs maybe – but I had no idea they were from Nickelodean – so there I was as a 40 year old woman watching a kid’s tv reality show band – ha… Oh well if anyone asked I could have pretended to have kids sitting down closer to the stage or something right. lol. For those wondering, the band was Big Time Rush – and actually I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am a big “boy bands” fan – Kpop or american pop or european boybands etc. I like how they all harmonize and dance in unison and also get their own little moments to shine. And well most of them are easy on the eyes. Not even sure if these boys were all over 21 lol. Oh well. 🙂 Haha. I’m not like a super hardcore fangirl, I don’t know all their names or favorite colors or foods or whatever – but I like me some boyband music. Well if you’ve read these posts before you know I like a lot of different genres, not just boybands. I’m a fan of 80s and 90s music and 2000s-today and everything from pop to country to rock to hiphop and everything in between. Here’s what I’m listening to this week – How about you? Drop me a link to your favorite songs in the comments below. read more

Idoly Pride Idol Raising Simulation Mobile Game

I fell in love with the Japanese version of Idoly Pride. It is quite similar to other already existing idol simulation games such as Idolm@ster and Love Live or Bang Dream Girls or Colorful Stage. I think what makes Idoly Pride stand out for me is the very high-quality graphics. The music is good, but the cute idols is what pulls me in like “WOW!!”

Like those other games, there’s also an anime based on the franchise. I am not sure which came first the game or the anime. I have not watched the anime yet. If it’s anything like the game, I’m sure it’s very cute! read more

Ensemble Stars Music Gets An Offical English Release

I’m so shocked and surprised and happy that I could cry!! I’ve been playing the Japanese version of Ensemble Stars for almost 5 or 6 years now. I never ever thought it would get an English version!! This is the best news of 2022!!

You can now Pre-Register for the Global Release of Ensemble Music Stars Here

Ensemble Stars is an anime “waifu” (except they’re husbando’s this time) music rhythm game with gorgeous artwork, fantastic music, and simulation aspects. It is most similar to Love Live All Stars or Idol M@ster (Will we ever see an English Idol M@ster game?) I say this because it blends not just tapping the music notes, but strategy and simulation elements in how you actually train your idols. I also (its been a year or two since I’ve played the Japanese version so forgive me if I’m incorrect but…) think that it has the Live 2D animated idols dancing around on your screen. I know it uses Live 2D in the story mode and cutscenes. read more

More Music For September 2021

I shared a lot of music last week over here. But Monsta X just dropped a new English language single called One Day and I can’t stop listening to it. It’s so good! Thank you for catering to your English-speaking fans. We love you. And “Maybe One Day I’ll See YOU” in concert that is if you ever come to Pittsburgh – Please 🙂

What else have I been listening to this week? Well how about this song by Dua Lipa with a new 80s-90s anime inspired music video – official, not fan made – that gives us vibes of Sailor Moon, Aishite Knight, Animal Crossing, Full Moon Wo Sagashite, Creamy Mami, and other Magical Girl old school anime. The song is pretty good – but the video is awesome! read more

Fall In Love With These New Songs For Fall 2021

I sometimes like to just share songs I’m listening to. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you know by now that my music taste is very eclectic. I listen to just about anything, from KPOP, American top 40, 80s, 90s, oldies, indie music, anime theme songs, covers, whatever.

Here’s what I’m listening to this week.

I am inspired to create this post today by my discovering TXT’s new English song “Magic”. – I previously shared TXT’s other English track “Cats and Dogs” – Their English was not very good – But I still love that song – but now, in 2021, they have been working really hard on their English skills – This new track is perfect. I can understand them just fine now. They’ve come a long ways! Their dancing is just too cute too. read more

What Am I Listening To This Week 8/3/2020 – GeekySweetie Recommended Top 20 Music Videos.

Hey it’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these posts. Who’s ready for some more music videos? 🙂

Here’s GeekySweetie’s recommended videos for you this week. Check em out. Have a song you’ve been listening to this week? Drop it in my comments section so I can check it out too! 🙂

  1. Hello My Loneliness By Delaney Jane and Call Me Karizma – These are 2 really great indie underground artists who definitely deserve more love! I just discovered them today under youtube recommended videos which inspired me to create this post. The girl only has 15,000 subscribers and the guy has under 200,000. Let’s show them some more love!

2. Strumbella’s Salvation – I heard this in Sheetz ( a gas station), but only for a moment, and what struck me was the lyrics. I spent almost an hour googling the lyrics before I found the song – and this one came up and the begining didn’t sound like what I heard so I skipped over it at first, but after finally circling back to it, and listening to the whole thing, I’m like OMG that’s it. The beginning is different than the ending verse, even the melody changes. But the message is so powerful and so touching. My favorite lyrics, and the ones I heard in Sheetz say: read more

Monsta-X

What I’m Listening To This Week – Monsta X – Who Do U Love?

  1. Monsta X – Who Do U Love?

Monsta X released a new song last week, and they’re on US tour right now. I wish I could go, but it doesn’t look like they’re anywhere close by here. They go to Las Vegas this fall, and I do have family in Vegas, but I dunno if I will be able to take off work, because I might be planning some other vacations this summer.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGCFaZIeB3k[/embedyt]

2. Ariana – 7 Rings

This Ariana Grande Song is about 6 months old now, but I just heard it for the first time last night. It’s to the tune of “A few of my favorite things” from the Sound of Music, but the beat is more hip-hop/pop-y. It actually kinda has almost a kpop feeling to it, I could picture Blackpink singing something like this.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYh6mYIJG2Y[/embedyt]

3. Ariana – Thank U – Next

If you live under a rock, you might have not heard this next Ariana song lol. I’m pretty sure everyone knows it. But I just watched the music video for the first time and it’s like a parody of Mean Girls. If you’ve ever seen that movie. So even if you don’t like Ariana, you might enjoy this video if you love Mean Girls.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gl1aHhXnN1k[/embedyt]

4. Jacob Lee – With You

This song makes me cry… It’s so beautiful…. I think it’s a perfect wedding song. He’s singing about how he imagines their future. The places they will go, and also how they will raise a family and how their life will change when their first child is born, and how they will fill her life with love and she will fill their life with love too.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuRZ42ExuHM[/embedyt]

5. Jacob Lee – I Belong To You

Jacob Lee has another excellent wedding song, which he sings at a wedding altar, with lyrics as if he’s singing to his bride on their wedding day.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtcBNdIq1ms[/embedyt]

6. Jordan Smith – Only Love

Wow I remember this Jordan Smith guy from The Voice on Adam’s team a few years ago. It looks like he’s made it Pro now. Good for him. I was always a fan, wanted him to win from pretty early in the season.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6DPyiE5e3M[/embedyt]

7. Kodaline – All I Want

This next video also moves me to tears, he has such a beautiful soul. There’s two parts but i think it’s the same song. I might have shared this one in one of my previous updates, but couldn’t remember, so here you can see it again.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtf7hC17IBM[/embedyt]

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzuXZfKg2YM[/embedyt]

8. Cyn – I’ll Still Have Me

Youtube recommended this next video for me. It’s a little slow and soft for my taste, but I like her voice, it’s very unusual.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MZgtCp8mtc[/embedyt]

9. Lawson – Where My Love Goes

Youtube also recommended this next song for me, again I haven’t heard of this band. The video is cute, because the lead singer actually proposes to his real life girl friend while they’re filming the video. The beat and melody of the song is catchy too. I like it a lot.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xwr7Jw-dqM[/embedyt]

10. Daniel Schulz – Turn Back Time

Also hadn’t heard of this one until I stumbled across it today. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but by half way through it was stuck in my head. It’s very catchy.

I first found this song via BTS’ Jung Kook’s cover but the original is good too. I think I actually prefer Jung Kook’s version more though.
