The Hidden Craze of Sports Betting in Japan

Japan, Soccer, Football, Field, Stadium, Fans

In Western media portrayals of Japan, one tired and problematic trope that is frequently trotted out is that the Japanese people are manic gamblers. Even Oscar-winning films such as Martin Scorcese’s Casino capitalize heavily on the idea that the Japanese are much more prolific gamblers than their American or British counterparts.

However, a quick look at the legal situation suggests a different story. Almost all forms of online betting remain strictly prohibited in Japan, with wagering on most sports being subject to chapter 23 of the Japanese penal code, which outlaws most types of betting. read more

Review Get Fit with Walk it Out Konami Wii Game

I recently began revamping my lifestyle to try to be healthier. To that end, as part of this healthier lifestyle, I began to play some of my old wii games that encourage you to get up off the couch and get active while playing the games. My favorite “weight loss” game has always been Konami’s “Walk it Out” for the original Wii. Yes, Wii U can play wii games in case you’re wondering. However, the switch cannot.

It is worth mentioning that while Wii games can be beneficial to help motivate you to want to lose weight, they are probably not as effective or strenuous as other forms of exercise. I make no claims that playing these games will help you lose a significant amount of weight, but if you’re like me (and millions of other Americans) who absolutely hate exercising to the point where you have one of those on the wall and haven’t used it in the 2 years it’s been hanging there, well then it’s one of those “better than nothing” things. Sure, you can go join a gym, or buy expensive exercise machines and equipment, but if you can’t motivate yourself to actually work out, then you’re not any better off. I can motivate myself to play Walk It Out because it’s actually FUN. – Now you may think exercising and going to the gym, or playing sports is fun – and that’s cool – but that’s you, and you have to remember not everyone has the same idea of what “fun” is. So I ask you to please respect that different people look at fitness in different ways. read more

5 Great Anime to Watch with Your Girlfriend

The phrase ‘anime you can watch with your girlfriend’ is typically associated with Hayao Miyazaki’s masterpieces, and that’s ok. After all, he’s brilliant. But in addition to Spirited Away and Ponyo, there are other cool Japanese anime your girlfriend will like even if she’s not an anime fan. We chose five best examples.

The Hunters of Forgotten Voices (2011)

The young girl Asuna lives with her mother in the Japanese village. She spends every evening climbing over the hill and listening to the old radio she got from her father. One day, on her way home, Asuna gets attacked by a mysterious monster, but a stranger named Shin rescues her. Soon Asuna learns that Shin, just like the monster, is from a parallel magical world. read more

This is a paid review, however all opinions are 100% my own.

I’ve done a number of reviews for dealspotr, because it’s my favorite GPT (Get Paid To) website. I’ve been a member of dealspotr since May 2016. In the past 6 months I’ve received over $200 amazon gift cards. I’ve not found a faster or more fun way to earn money online.

I’ve put together a very in depth tutorial for new users here with pictures that show you walking through how to register your free account, choosing interests, following your favorite stores, validating deals, and sharing your own deals on the site. Be sure you check it out. read more

Oops.

I must appologize if you received our weekly email numerous times today. I use a plugin called “MailPoet” to send the emails for me – I don’t know what happened as I’ve been using it for a few months now without any problem, but today I got our email from my website at least 5 times.

I took a look at the plugin to see what was going on – and I saw about 7 more “sending” or “waiting to send” which I of course promptly deleted.

I’m really sorry that this happened. I take spam very seriously and just want you to know that you can also always unsubscribe by hitting the link at the bottom of the email. read more

Cute Anime Kawaii Animal Gacha Dressup Tetris Game

Zookeeper Battle VS Free Ipad Game Like Tetris But With Cute Animals

First a “State-of-the-geek” message (Skip this message by scrolling past the top 3 paragraphs).

Zookeeper vs iPad game

A photo posted by jenilee (@xenokitten) on

Been a lonnnng time since I’ve posted anything for you guys. So here is a review of one of my favorite Ipad Games (plus hey it’s free, so you should really check it out!)

First, I’m still alive, and still geeky and passionate about all things geeky, kawaii, or otherwise known as awesome. I work a full 40+ hour work week, as a web developer / graphic artist / catchall for web/graphic/print/advertising/marketing lol. So I often don’t feel too inspired to work on my many “personal” (fun / hobby) websites. This one here ( https://geekysweetie.com ), http://partymotif.com , and my newest one http://otakujam.com I do not profit on anything that I write. I do have ad revenue, but not even enough to cover the costs of running and maintaining the servers and domain names of all the sites, let alone the time and energy and effort into maintaining them. So I apologize if updates are slow. If you’re actually reading this, thank you 🙂 If you’d like to chat sometime about games or anime or technology or anything else, please feel free to drop me a line. I love making new geeky friends. 🙂 Also I hope to go to Colosocon in Sandusky OH this spring. Anyone else going? ^^ I am super shy, and need friends :). read more

Lunar Eternal Blue Review by Geeky Sweetie

Title: Lunar Eternal Blue

Genre: RPG

Publisher: GameArts / Studio Alex (Japan) / Working Designs (USA)

This review is of the english version(s) by Working Designs which feature english text and english voice acting.

Geeky Factor: 3/5

Sweetie Factor: 5/5

Story: 10/10

The story of Eternal Blue takes place long after Silver Star Story. In my opinion, Eternal Blue is the better of the two games, but last time I checked, that seemed to be a minority opinion. No previous experience with silver star is required to enjoy eternal blue. In fact, I played eternal blue first, back on the sega cd, and later purchased silver star after completing eternal blue. I have played all of the lunar games in all of their iterations including some that are not very good such as dragon song and walking school. read more
