The Reviews for the new animated Super Mario Bros. movie are in, and they are not good. But, I decided to go see the film today and I really enjoyed it. FYI, I didn’t care for the 90s live action film, which is notorious for being the worst movie of all time to many film critics. Some of the critics are saying it’s better than the new 2023 movie, but I disagree. Despite bad reviews, I was happy with the new 2023 Super Mario Bros movie.
As a 41-year-old gamer girl who has grown up with the 8-bit NES and witnessed the evolution of the gaming world, the 2023 animated Super Mario Bros. Movie was a delightful and nostalgic trip down memory lane.
From the very beginning, the movie captivated me with its vivid and colorful animation that stayed true to the charm and whimsy of the classic games. The film managed to bring the world of the Mushroom Kingdom to life in a way that transported me back to my childhood, playing Super Mario Bros. on my NES for the first time.
The plot of the movie artfully weaves together elements from various Mario games, creating a cohesive and engaging story that resonated with me as a long-time fan. The film takes us on an adventure through iconic worlds such as the Mushroom Kingdom, Bowser’s Castle, and even the underwater realms of Super Mario Bros. 3. The attention to detail in the landscapes, characters, and even the power-ups is truly impressive and shows the filmmakers’ deep appreciation for the source material.
