How Persona 3 Reload Redefines the Classic JRPG

As a longtime fan of the Persona series, the announcement of “Persona 3 Reload” filled me with a mixture of excitement and nostalgia. Having spent countless hours immersed in the original game, the prospect of revisiting Iwatodai with modern enhancements was thrilling. “Persona 3 Reload” did not disappoint, especially for someone who treasures the series’ social simulation aspects.

In “Persona 3 Reload,” while specific details on new Personas or locations have not been explicitly mentioned, the game retains its focus on the Velvet Room for Persona fusion and the city of Port Island for exploration. The Velvet Room continues to offer Persona fusions, including special fusions involving three or more Personas, and allows players to register their Personas in the compendium for later summoning. Port Island, including areas like Paulownia Mall and Tatsumi Port Island Station, remains a hub for buying items, working part-time, and enhancing social stats. The game also introduces network features, such as the ability to review and compare progress with other players, access gameplay tips, and utilize online saves within the same console family, though not cross-platform. These features aim to modernize the experience and foster a sense of community among players read more

A Missed Opportunity: The Absence of Female Protagonist Kotone in Persona 3 Reload

As an avid fan of the Persona series, the anticipation for “Persona 3 Reload” has been a roller coaster of excitement and, unfortunately, disappointment. The Persona series, developed by Atlus, has always been at the forefront of delivering engaging narratives, complex characters, and innovative gameplay. However, the recent unveiling of “Persona 3 Reload” has left a noticeable void for many fans, particularly due to the exclusion of Kotone, the female protagonist from “Persona 3 Portable.” read more

Review: Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles – A Bittersweet Symphony

The Sweet Melody of Nostalgia

“Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles” for the Nintendo Switch tugs at the heartstrings of nostalgia, bringing us back to the enchanting world of Cornet and her adventures, but now through the eyes of her daughter, Kururu. The game is a beautiful journey, dripping with the rich anime art style that captures the essence of the original, and the direct continuation of the story offers a seamless transition that feels both familiar and fresh. Meeting the characters and puppets from the first game is like a reunion with old friends, sparking joy and reminiscence. read more

Review of Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical (Nintendo Switch Version)

When I first heard about *Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical*, my excitement was palpable. Being an ardent admirer of David Gaider’s work with Dragon Age, and given my penchant for musicals, the concept of a roleplaying game that integrates musical elements sounded like a dream come true.

The narrative of *Stray Gods* drew me in immediately. Playing as Grace, tasked with proving her innocence against the accusation of murdering the last muse, while navigating the world of Greek gods, is nothing short of exhilarating. The stakes are high, the drama is palpable, and the narrative choices make for a deeply immersive experience. Each choice influencing the story’s progression, especially in the musical lyrics, adds a whole new layer of depth, resonating with the musical lover in me. read more

Why I’m waiting on Final Fantasy 16 to go on sale.

As someone deeply immersed in the world of JRPGs, and with an unabashed love for Final Fantasy VI, it’s with a heavy heart that I’m yet to get my hands on Final Fantasy XVI. And it’s not just nostalgia speaking; it feels like Square-Enix has lost touch with their fan base.

The term “JRPG” isn’t a negative one for me; it’s a badge of honor. It signifies everything I adore about the genre: compelling stories, memorable characters, heart-tugging emotions, fascinating secrets, and artistic brilliance. But Square-Enix seems offended by the term, striving instead to align themselves with Western-style RPGs. read more

Made In The Abyss Nintendo Switch Game Review

I became intrigued by Made In The Abyss for Nintendo Switch when I read a headline on another game review website that said “Don’t let your kids near this game” and they hyped it up to be quite horrifying. Despite the cute graphics, they promised that the game was deeply disturbing.

I don’t find it THAT disturbing yet… but your mileage may vary. The game is based on an anime by the same name which I have not yet watched. The anime is supposedly so disturbing that it is illegal in Canada? I read that in the comments on this other gaming site. read more

I am only level 3 and just returned from my first trip into Hogsmeade and there’s still plenty I have yet to unlock or discover. I’m barely even through the game’s tutorial, but I thought, why not give my honest early impressions.

Sprinkled throughout here you’ll find some of my screenshots and videos of my brief time with Hogwarts Legacy so far. For future Hogwarts Legacy updates follow my twitter.

Love it, or hate it, Harry Potter is one of the most iconic books and movies of all time. Hated by various groups for various reasons, including religious groups who find the book demonic, or LGBT who hate JK Rowling for some unsavory political comments she made. Despite all the drama and backlash, Harry Potter endures for many a beloved classic. read more

Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles Heading West For The First Time Bringing The Second and Third Rhapsody Games To English Speaking Fans For The First Time In Summer 2023 on Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC.

Rhapsody a musical adventure is one of my most beloved favorite games of the late 90s/early 2k. Hard to believe that was like 20-30 years ago, right? Even harder to believe that there are several sequels for this game, that for some reason or another, never made it to the USA, despite the relatively cult classic sleeper hit of the first title.

But that’s all about to change now. NIS has just announced they are bringing a collector’s edition containing the 2nd and 3rd Rhapsody sequels to North America with full English voice acting, singing, and of course text. read more

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Is Not As Bad As People Claim. I Love Pokemon Violet And Here’s Why.

I anxiously awaited Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s release. I preordered Pokemon Violet a month or two ago and painstakingly counted down the days until release. Early reviews and reports of Glitches and Poor Graphical Performance didn’t dissuade my excitement. Finally the day was here. I spent that weekend delving into the game.

I chose Sprigatito for my starter but was torn between him and Quaxly. Don’t think the “Surprise Trade” is all garbage – you might get surprised! Last night I received Quaxly AND Fuecoco. – But yeah mostly Surprise Trade is pretty garbage. People stop putting in garbage please. (Not like they’ll listen to me lol). I don’t have any real life friends playing the game though so I tried my luck at Surprise Trade. read more
