Samsung’s Fatal Security Flaws Have Helped Me Decide Which Phone To Upgrade To In 2023.

Hello everyone, my name is Jeni and I am currently the owner of an iPhone 13 Pro. Recently, I have been contemplating switching over to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The reason behind this switch is because I play many games from multiple regions, and I require a phone with at least 1TB of storage. While I have been going back and forth between waiting for the iPhone 15 Ultra in September 2023 or upgrading now to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, I believe I have made up my mind.

Initially, I was captivated by the sleek design and feel of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The phone is lighter and thinner, has a larger screen, and does not have an unsightly notch or dynamic island. The lavender color of the phone is also incredibly appealing to me, and I cannot deny the camera is far better than the iPhone. Furthermore, the SPen feature is very enticing since typing on my iPhone can be a hassle.

However, I recently read two concerning things that made me reconsider my decision. Firstly, numerous YouTube videos in the past six months show that all Samsung devices older than two years have expanding and explosive batteries. Secondly, a warning issued by Google themselves stated that until Samsung fixes a security loophole, hackers can take complete control of your phone with just your phone number. Safety and security are incredibly important to me, and I feel much safer using an iPhone.

I have been a long-time user of both Android and iPhone, having owned several Motorola Droids and Samsung Notes, which had issues with their batteries. I have also owned the first two Google Pixels, but my second Pixel started acting up. The camera would turn on by itself, even when I was changing clothes, which was concerning. I immediately switched back to the iPhone, and I have been with them ever since.

While I do believe that no phone is 100% safe, I do feel much more secure on an iPhone. I may be missing out on some great features with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, but safety comes first. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the iPhone 15 Ultra, which will hopefully have some camera upgrades. Rumors say there will be a maroon color 15 Pro (or Ultra), but I am not particularly fond of it. I did not like the Purple 14 Pro either, and it is more of a black color. If rumors are true, the non-Pro iPhone 15s will come in beautiful hot pink and cyan shades, both of which I absolutely adore.

While I might “downgrade” myself to the non-Pro level to have a kawaii phone color, I wish Apple would give us at least one bright, fun, and feminine color on the Ultra or Pro. I hate the thought of sacrificing cameras and features for a color. Most people say you won’t notice because you have a case, but I have been caseless for the past few years, and even with a case, you have an unsightly camera bump in most cases that clashes with the color of your case. White or black are better for accessorizing. The white is more feminine to me than the black. But that pink and blue are still so nice. I don’t know if the non-Pro will have an option for 1TB storage, so that might be the deciding factor for me right there.

In conclusion, while the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra looks like an amazing phone, my concern for safety and security has led me to remain with the iPhone for now. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the iPhone 15 Ultra and hope it comes with camera upgrades. I am torn between the leaked renders of the magenta or cyan, both of which are incredible. We shall see what colors Apple releases this fall.
