Top 10 Subscription Boxes for Geek Girls

Subscription boxes are taking over the internet. If you've never heard of such a thing, you must be living under a rock. The basic premise is you subscribe by paying a monthly fee and you get a box full of monthly goods delivered to your doorstep (or digitally in the case of a few subscription services out there). You don't get to choose the items inside, so it's like Christmas, or a birthday, opening a box and being surprised every month. How exciting! Of course, you run the risk of not liking what's inside either though so it's a gamble. They have boxes for everything from beauty products, to cat toys, dog treats, and yes, even anime and gamer and geeky boxes too. This post has been modified but not "updated" to introduce new boxes, or remove boxes which may no longer be available on th

Koe – a JRPG to learn Japanese Vocabulary Kickstarter

Koe is an upcoming JRPG styled game by an indie UK developer that is intended to teach players Japanese Vocabulary in a game that draws inspiration from Pokemon and Final Fantasy. The game has already reached the funding goals and there is already progress being made. The dev team has run into some delays but hope to soon release a demo to those who have backed the game via kickstarter or paypal. The developers also note that all of the artwork is placeholder at this time and will be replaced in the final version. It looks like quite the interesting, and perhaps educational, little game. Check out the trailer below: Visit the kickstarter page for more info here: http://kck.st/1c8NbwL The developer of Koe Stresses that this is first, and foremost, an entertaining game, more so than a...

Title: Graduation 95 System: PC Publisher: Mixx Entertainment Genre: Simulation - Life Sim, School Sim, Dating Sim, Raising Sim, Stat Raising Sim Where to Buy: Damned if I know. I spent a half hour just now trying to google it and came up empty. Maybe ebay? Although I just searched there and the only thing coming up is the Japanese import version. Glad I still have my English copy by Mixx Entertainment. Geeky: Sweetie: Overall: 69 / 90 77% C+ "Good Game for Girls" Concept: 10/10 You play as a teacher to a class full of lovely young ladies who need your help and guidance in order to graduate. Steambot Chronicles | Retro Game Review | JRPG | RPG | PS2 | Playstation 2

I hope everyone had an excellent holiday. Today I'm reviewing Steambot Chronicles for PS2. This is one of my favorite games because of the amount of things to do and see as well as the unique steam punk setting within the game. Title: Steambot Chronicles Publisher: Atlus Platform: PS2 Release Date: 2006 Where to Buy: Amazon seems to be the only way to go (aside from ebay of course). The game was a commercial failure in north america, so not many copies exist; and it was before Atlus "struck gold" (and attainted a cult following) with games like Persona 3 and 4. There are currently 2 copies available on Amazon at time of this review for $90 - $120. You can keep checking back. Here is the page for the game on Amazon right here. Edit: Actually there appears to be 2 pages on Ama

You can go to the Store Page Here. However if you don't have a Wii or Wii U or you want to have the original SNES version for your collection you can find it on Amazon with prices ranging from $199 to $329 depending on the condition of the item. You can browse what's available on Amazon right here. Geeky:  Sweetie:  Overall: 63/80 79% C+ "Good Game for Girls" Concept: 10/10 Breath of Fire II is another one of my all-time favorite games. Nodame Cantabile Anime Review

While sick last week, I marathoned my way through the first season of the anime version of Nodame Cantabile, a cute shoujo romantic-comedy anime about a young man (Chiaki) who wants to become a conductor. He encounters a girl who plays the piano with so much energy that it sounds as if she is singing. Her nickname is Nodame. Hence we get the title, Nodame Cantabile. A Cantabile is a musical term to describe instrumental music which emulates the sound of human voices singing. It literally means "to play (an instrument) as if singing". Interestingly, enough, the characters and events in this anime are based partially (although I'm sure exaggerated to a degree) on real life acquaintances and friends of the Mangaka who wrote the manga on which the anime is based.   My favorite thing ab...

Azure Dreams – RogueLike Dungeon Crawler with Dating Sim, City Building, and Pokemon Style Gameplay | Retro Game Review | Playstation | 90s | Cute Anime RPG

Title: Azure Dreams Publisher: Konami Release Date: 1997 Platforms: Playstation 1, and Gameboy Color. Note that the Gameboy Color version is widely different and not as good as the PS1 version, for example the Gameboy version removed all of the dating sim elements from the game. I really recommend playing the original PS1 version. Where to Buy: Unfortunately it's very old and hard to find, at time of this review there is one copy left on amazon, being sold for $150+ Keep your eyes on this page here: http://www.amazon.com/Azure-Dreams-Pc/dp/B00000DMAP  You can also check out the reviews there and see for yourself that this is a great game. I wish Konami would release this game on the Playstation Store. I'd buy it in an instant even though I still have my PS1 disc. (darn lack of backwa

We Have Removed Bidvertiser Ads

In an effort to try to improve our site, and as a followup to my post yesterday, regarding another Pay Per Click program (InfoLinks), I have disabled today also Bidvertiser ads which were causing a popup and redirect as well. As well as similar issues such as highly irrelevant ads, and just "spamming" my readers. I won't stand for that, no matter how "profitable" an ad network may be. After I finish this wordpress post, I am also going to disable the email collection "splash" screen that appears once per day when visiting the site. (Which is not related to Bidvertiser) (but keeps me from having to make a separate post about that as well). On a final note, I also just disabled Chitika Mobile Ads, because I noticed they too were using popups and obscuring my site content. I do not think ...

If you’re a WordPress user, do not use InfoLinks.com to Monetize Your Site

For those curious, this is the plugin in question: https://wordpress.org/plugins/infolinks-officlial-plugin/  Nearly a 5 star rating and 10,000+ active installs. One would think it could be trusted.... but... Any program that continues to run it's script after I "deactivate" the plugin in my admin control panel, is a bad, malicious program. I deactivated the plugin from my wordpress site, as well as logged into my InfoLinks dashboard, disabled each one of the different ads I had enabled such as in text ads, in fold ads, etc, and still kept getting ads that covered, obscured, and hid my content. Not only that, but I got popup and popunder ads, or ads which forced open new tabs taking the readers away from my blog. The only way I finally found to get rid of the ads was to delete the p

Ni No Kuni 2 | Ni No Kuni The White Witch 2 | Ni No Kuni Sequel | Playstation 4

Ni No Kuni the White Witch is one of my favorite games of all time. It's a heart warming story about a small boy trying to save his mother. Best of all, it's done by Studio Ghibli and has all the charm and love that we've come to expect from films such as Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, and Princess Kaguya. At the recent live stream event, Sony just announced Ni No Kuni 2, a sequel to the first game, which will be coming in 2016 to the Playstation 4. Check out the announcement trailer below: https://youtu.be/VMuVM9Sn8W0   Related articles 20+ Studio Ghibli Tattoos Inspired By Miyazaki Films Japan's Studio Ghibli Named Asian Filmmaker of the Year at Busan 'Totoro' creator Hayao Miayazaki to build a 'nature park' for children Play

Yobi the Five Tailed Fox | Anime Review | Korean Film | Korean Anime | Korean Animation | Korean Animated Film | Korean Movie | South Korea

While not technically an anime, per say, since it is not from Japan, Yobi the Five Tailed Fox is an excellent family film that has a similar style to that of Studio Ghibli. The story of Yobi the Five Tailed Fox tells us a Korean folk tale legend about Kitsune like creatures who could become human if they stole a human's soul. Because of that belief, that the foxes could steal souls, they became hunted almost to extinction. Except for Yobi, the "young" (if 100 years old is young) fox who lives in the forest with her farting alien family who are trying to repair their spaceship to return home. One of her family members wanders into a summer camp for humans near the forest one day and Yobi goes to the camp in her human form to try to convince the alien to return back home. However, once Yob...
